"DENNIS "THE MENACE" JAMES - THIS IS THE WAY I DO IT"

In what has to be one of the most incredible displays of size and thickness ever put to video, Mitsuru Okabe presents "Dennis 'The Menace' James - This Is The Way I Do It". Dennis James is one of the IFBB's most promising new pros and, after witnessing the video of this Beast from the Far East (Dennis lives in Thailand), you will agree that he has some of the most incredible muscle thickness ever witnessed on a bodybuilder.

Filmed entirely in his homeland of Thailand, we watch Dennis during his preparation for the 2000 Mr. Olympia contest only four weeks out from the big event. As big and thick as any bodybuilder competing today, Dennis weighs an astounding 271 hard pounds at a height of only 5'8".

As the owner and operator of Universe Gym in Pattaya, Thailand, Dennis performs all his workouts in his own gym. The video chronicles every workout Dennis puts himself through during a typical week. As a full-time professional, Dennis trains on a double split schedule, training twice a day in the hot and humid climate of Thailand.

Unlike Ronnie Coleman, who trains by himself, Dennis has a full support team on hand to help him in the construction of one of the world's most incredible physiques. I counted a total of five individuals with him during his workouts including a trainer for the evening workouts (who appeared to be from Germany) and a trainer for the morning workouts (from New Zealand), his training partner (an amateur bodybuilder from Thailand who is training for the IFBB World Championships) and even a weight boy, whose primary job is to change the weights during the workouts.

Dennis spends alot of time during the video detailing his background, his beginnings in the sport and many humorous tales of his experiences in the bodybuilding world. Because he lives in Thailand, many people think that Dennis is half Thai. However, Dennis is an American citizen whose father is from the United States and his mother is from Germany. In fact, Dennis was raised in Germany and decided to move to Thailand in 1990 after a friend from Germany who owns business property there convinced Dennis to visit.

Although he began training in 1992, Dennis had such incredible genetics for the sport that he began competing in the NABBA Mr. Universe contest only a year and a half later. Taking fourth place in his first attempt at the Mr. Universe, Dennis finally won on his third try in 1995. He stayed with the NABBA organization one more year, taking runner-up in the Professional division, before deciding that his real dream was to become an IFBB pro.

Not knowing anyone in California, Dennis took a chance and bought a plane ticket to the Mecca of bodybuilding in 1997. He only knew of a few choice locations including Gold's Gym, the Marina Pacific Hotel and the Firehouse restaurant. On his first visit to Gold's, he met Rico McClinton who convinced Dennis to give NPC promoter Jon Lindsay a call. Later that year, Dennis began his odyssey to become an IFBB pro by winning Lindsay's NPC Border States competition and then taking 4th place in the Nationals three weeks later.

It was IronMan Magazine's own Lonnie Teper who convinced this impressive newcomer to compete in the 1998 NPC USA Championships instead of waiting for the Nationals later in the year. The rest, as they say, is history. Dennis defeated best friend Melvin Anthony in an extremely close tie-breaking decision and went on to win the overall USA title and begin his career as an IFBB pro.

Throughout his intense workouts on the video, Dennis seems to grow bigger and bigger with each training session. One of the highlights of the tape is an impromptu posing demonstration outside the gym after a brutal chest workout. The sight of this 275 pound monster flexing his rock-hard physique defies description and has to be seen to be believed.

The workouts are made even more intense by the obvious humidity that is present in the gym. Dennis and his team are soaked in sweat only minutes into each workout. You will feel nothing but pity for his poor training partner during their punishing leg workout. Although he may be an impressive amateur bodybuilder, this guy seems way out of his league as he tries to keep up with Dennis on squats.

A physique like Dennis James obviously does not come easy. The video "Dennis 'The Menace' James - This Is The Way I Do It" clearly demonstrates the amount of hard work and dedication that is necessary to build one of the most thickly muscled bodies on the planet. You won't believe your eyes.
